Ali + Alex

The Start

According to Alex's superb memory, they matched online, but Ali ignored Alex's messages. They then met in person several times, and each time, Ali re-introduced herself to Alex (facepalm). Then as luck (and champagne) would have it, they met at an Odesza concert, went to Ikea together on a date (bought a plant together), and finally, Ali friend-zoned Alex… womp womp. In all this, suffice it to say, Ali was the worst.

The Restart

About a year later, Ali realized her HUGE mistake and convinced Alex to go out for beers to reconnect…

The rekindle was successful, and they were officially dating in late November 2016! Alex was onboard for adventure and even took up an offer to take a long weekend trip together to Prague only a few months after dating. Alex & Ali were both living in Minneapolis at this time, but in January 2017, Alex got an opportunity to join Vital Proteins and the job took him down to Chicago. Luckily, with Ali's work flights and a lot of back and forth they made long distance work for almost two years.

Chicago

In 2018 after enough time in separate cities, Ali moved down to Chicago to live together. Ali & Alex have hopped multiple neighborhoods, always exploring the restaurants, bars and local culture (and convincing their friends to come west of the river).

Stewie became Ali's officially adopted step-cat after moving in with Alex, and they brought home Surly the cockapoo in August of 2018!

House Becomes a Home

In November of 2019, what started as 'just looking' turned into buying a townhouse together in Logan Square, which turned out to be serendipitous timing in advance of quarantining together and working from home indefinitely! The plant from their Ikea date made the move with them after all those years!

Quarantine

The Engagement

Ali + Alex get engaged in Chicago!
